PM To Make Important Announcement On Water, Electricity Woes In Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to make an important announcement to address the ongoing water and electricity supply woes in Sabah soon.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Najib and Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor were working on finding a speedy solution to address problems affecting the state.

"There will be short-term and long-term solutions for Sabah's water and electricity supply problems which are getting critical.

"When the time comes, he (Najib) will make a favourable announcement," he told reporters after meeting members of the Federation of Chinese Associations in Sabah here on Saturday.

Koh said, while the majority of Sabah's community leaders were satisfied with the progress of the state's economic development under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, they felt the welfare of the people in terms of basic necessities, needed to be addressed first before other developments could be implemented.

He said the community leaders also wanted the government sector in the state to improve services, in terms of efficiency and courtesy.

"By using the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to drive the performance in the government sector, especially at the Federal level, the government will focus on improving efficiency, as well as courtesy in governemnt services.

"We will make sure that while there is speedy delivery in services, the staff at hand, should also be polite," he said.
