Petronas Primax 95 Meets Motorist Expectation
By Soraya Jamal
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Petronas' new Primax 95 petrol meets the expectation of motorists and is compatible with all vehicles that use direct injection technology.
Petronas has done extensive testing to ensure that Primax 95 provides fuel economy without compromising on the engine performance and power.
Primax 95 is Petronas' new RON 95 rated fuel, which replaced the RON 92 effective Sept 1 at more than 900 Petronas stations nationwide.
RON stands for Research Octane Number, which is the measurement of the combustion properties of a fuel. Fuel used by any vehicle needs to meet the minimum RON requirement to ensure optimum engine performance.
Apart from giving more mileage, the fuel has been added with Friction Modifier and Combustion Improver to improve engine performance and power, said Petronas Dagangan Bhd's Senior General Manager for Retail Business Mohd Fazlan Abdul Samad.
Petronas Dagangan Bhd is the domestic retail arm of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas).
TESTED AN PROVEN
Primax 95 is also formulated with Sinar G-07 detergent, which prevents deposits from building up in the engine and ensures engine lasts longer while maintaining superior performance.
It increases efficiency by reducing frictional losses between the cylinder wall and the piston rings.
The petrol also has been tested and proven over 80,000 km of highway, urban and suburban driving conditions. It has undergone over 600 hours of engine testing for durability, engine cleanliness and valve train operation.
Developed to meet the strict Euro 2M emission standards, the Primax95 has been formulated with reduced sulphur content of 500ppm leading to lower emissions.
Meanwhile, a two-day Petronas Primax Media Trip and Convoy covering a distance of 350km from Shah Alam to Malacca and back was held to showcase that Primax 95 is compatible with most car marques in Malaysian market today such as BMW, Honda, Peugeot, KIA and Proton.
REFINERIES
The convoy also visited Petronas' refinery complex in Malacca and listened to the technical presentation Petronas' Primax 95 by technical experts from Petronas Research Sdn Bhd.
The refinery complex, within an area of 370.4 hectares consists of Petronas Second Refinery Phase 1 (PSR-1) and Petronas Second Refinery Phase 2 (PSR-2) plants.
Primax 95 is set to compete with the RON 95 fuel offered by its competitiors not only due to its price of RM1.80 per liter but also due to the many benefits provided by the fuel.
