Last update: 12/09/2007

ALOR STAR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) helicopter on a basic training flight had to make an emergency landing on a padi field near Kampung China, Pokok Sena, about 40km from here, today.

Trainee pilot Lt T. Kugadass brought the Alloutte 3 aircraft to a safe landing at a recently harvested padi field at 4.30pm, said RMAF public relations officer Mej Zulkiflee Abdul Latiff.

He said the trainee pilot was unhurt while the helicopter was not damaged.

"The Alloutte 3 helicopter had encounted a minor technical problem and was forced to land on a padi field," he added in a statement today.

Mejar Zulkiflee said the RMAF Training College based in Kepala Batas, near here, sent a rescue team to the scene and the helicopter was flown back to the college at 5.42pm.
