MELAKA, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- More than 2,000 riders and 1,000 classic motorcycles of various makes and models are expected take part in the inaugural Melaka International Bike 2009 that revs up on Friday.

Organiser Azman A Rahman said classic motorcycles and super bikes from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand would take part in the festival themed "Ride for Gaza" and aimed at collecting donations for the people of Palestine and Melaka Disaster Fund.

"We are targeting to collect RM10,000 throughout the festival and motorcycle convoy that starts from the Melaka Media House in Ayer Keroh to Bandar Hilir," he told reporters here Wednesday.

Apart from the motorcyclists, the public can also participate and contribute towards the fund through activities like taking pictures with motorcycles, riding on motorcycles, stickers, flags and other activities, he said.

Azman who is also Executive Director of Realhouse Venture Sdn Bhd said Melaka Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam is also expected to be among the participants and would ride his own classic motorcycle.
